What are some 'safe places' in the community were you feel secure and comfortable to be yourself

"Any gay bar/club." - Trixie

"I feel safe in any situation and I have been in some pubs/clubs that I have found intimidating. But after a while there is always someone whose curiosity makes conversation." - Gina

"I feel safe in most gay clubs/pubs, but younger people need somewhere to go that's legal for them whilst they are still underage." - Madeline

"I don't have a problem going anywhere. I am not in any "scene" and if I do go out, I like "straight" pubs and clubs rather than the Valley." - Anelyse

"I feel secure everywhere. If people have a problem, it's their problem." - Kristine

"I feel alright most anywhere these days except in a straight pub as I feel intimidated when men make a pass at me. It is mainly because it is a dangerous situation when you're pre-op as a pissed straight guy is likely to blame you if he works out you're a trannie. A violent reaction is possible and has happened to others before now. Also it's just yucky! If I go out I feel most comfortable around other dykes." - Audrey

"Now that I pass as a hetero-guy, I feel pretty safe at the shops and out and about. I run my own business now and that is easy. It would be nice to have a gym to go to, but... it's just not possible. I would not feel safe at a regular gym. There should be more places for TG's to hang out, but they seem few and far between. I've yet to actually meet any other FtM's face to face." - Jaisen

"I visit pubs and clubs in the Inner City and the Valley because they are Transgender Friendly and I feel comfortable there. But we should have social events that help to get the shy people who have trouble with going out because of fear of being seen in public." - Andrea

"Wickham, Sportsman, The Beat, Heaven etc. - a lot of places in Fortitude Valley." - Lara
